IZTUZU

It is a vacational spot between Sarigerme and Marmaris and the entrance of Kaunos and Dalyan from the sea. It’s 12 km away from Dalyan by highway and 4 miles by sea. There are regular boat and minibus tours from Dalyan to the coast. There are wharfs for those who come by sea and car parks for those who come by road.

Resting at the skirts of the hills and protruding onto the entrance of Dalyan Delta, the Iztuzu Beach is a 5400-meter bank of pure golden sand kissing the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. There’s a pine forest in front of the coast. No constructions but some changing rooms are allowed on the beach.

The coast of Iztuzu became world famous thanks to the Caretta Caretta turtles, who come to the beach on the Iztuzu coast to lay their eggs. There are measures taken to make sure beach equipment and people do not cause damage to the turtle eggs. The stakes on the beach show the breeding area of turtles. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the beach; they may do harm to the turtle eggs.

Iztuzu, quite apart from the Caretta Caretta turtles, is simply a wonderful gift of nature. With its clean and shallow coast, Iztuzu is a perfect vacational spot where you can enjoy lovely weather and a warm sea during 9 months. In addition to this, you’ll feel excitement to share the shore with animal species which come from pre-historic period.
