SOGUT
All in all, there are sixty-six bays and inlets sprinkled along the Gokova shoreline. On the southern coast in particular these inlets are so numerous that they seem like crochetwork. Sogut is the most beautiful among them. You can get to the village of Sogut either from Bozburun or the village of Bayir.
The village of Sogut is inland from the sea and is a remote area of the Bozburun Peninsula. This is why it has so far managed to avoid the tourist traffic. Despite this the market of the village is quite lively.
Sogut has everything – woods, clear sea, the bright pink of oleanders, the mountains rising just beyond, covered with pine trees. And just in front of the shore there is a stand of storax, an incense tree wild and fragrant.
One kilometre to the south west of Sogut there are the remains of the ancient settlement of Thyssanos.
The gate opening to the sea from the Sogut village is the Saranda Cove. You can get to Saranda Cove by following a 3 km long dirt road. On your way to Saranda you will enjoy a stunning view of the cove and the green Sombaki Gulf. In the distance Sombeki (Simi) Island, which is a part of Greece, is seen. Give yourself enough time to take in this view, especially at sunset.
